SCIENTIFIC EVENTS

The European Association of the Columban Way has a Scientific Committee which is composed of many of the best-known scholars of Columbanus and his legacy.

Since the launch of this project, numerous conferences, historical seminars and scientific meetings have been held, in Bangor, Dublin, Navan, Paris, Luxeuil, Saint-Gallen, Milan and Bobbio, involving some of the greatest historians and archaeologists of the early Middle Ages. These events have resulted in publications, both for the scientific community and for the general public.

Recent events on these themes include:

  • 24-45 May 2019 in Luxeuil: Journées de l’Antiquité Tardive, organised by Sébastien Bully

Upcoming events on these themes include:

  • 28 September 2019: 11th round table on luxovian monasticism « Aux sources des pèlerinages : histoire et évolution »
  • November : Colombanus festival in Bangor. Speakers to be announced.
