The generator set is a machine that produces electricity independently. Thanks to a generator set, the camper can ensure all the comfort they need in complete peace of mind. This assumes they can get their hands on the ideal generator set for their motorhome. The choice is essentially between two categories of generator sets: solar generator models and thermal generator sets.
Solar Generator Sets
This is a somewhat recent version of generator set for motorhomes. They allow the production of electrical energy from energy derived from solar rays. They therefore do not need a thermal engine for this.
The capture of sunlight by a portable solar generator for motorhome, for instance, is done through solar panels. These panels are equipped with photovoltaic cells capable of directly converting sunlight into electrical energy. This energy will then be stored in one or more batteries. This means that the generator set continues to supply electricity even when the sun disappears.
A solar generator set presents multiple advantages. The first relates to the solar energy it needs to operate. We then talk about a rechargeable solar generator set at will. The second advantage of this type of generator set pertains to its emissions. A solar generator set emits no gas. It makes no noise, making it the silent generator set par excellence.
Regarding the limitations of this type of generator set, they are found at two levels. The first is related to power, while the second refers to price. A portable solar generator set can, however, be a good compromise between these two drawbacks.

Thermal Generator Sets
This category includes traditional generator set models. Their mode of operation is practically the same. They are equipped with a thermal engine that runs on fossil fuel. This can be gasoline, diesel, or gas.
Gasoline Generator Sets
This is the type of generator set most commonly used in general. It operates using gasoline and is equipped with either a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine. Some models also have manual start while others are equipped with automatic start.
Its main advantage is its purchase price. If you are looking for a cheap generator set for your camping, a gasoline model will do the trick.
Diesel Generator Sets
This type of generator set stands out from the others due to its power. It can easily power the most energy-intensive electrical devices. It has a 4 stroke engine and automatic start.
Its main disadvantage is related to its noise level, as it is quite loud. Therefore, it is not ideal for camping.
Gas Generator Sets
This type of generator set is an excellent compromise between power and noise pollution. It has a 4 stroke engine and can deliver power ranging from 4800 watts to 16,000 watts. However, for long-term use, this generator set is not ideal.
